A Beautiful Journey Full of Scars (The Dark Side of Awakening)

Last updated on
Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, joys and pains, sorrows, and scars. Sometimes, the path to personal growth and awakening can be a lonely one, as it forces us to confront and heal from the wounds of our past. In this blog, we dive deep into the the darkness that can come after having a spiritual awakening. Healing from trauma can be a long long lasting experience, but know that you are not alone in this! There are so many put there just like you and I, it may feel lonely at times, but we are here with you! It is through these steps that we can truly help you on your beautiful journey of self-discovery, leaving the darkness behind and embracing a brighter future.

Here are my personal 7 tips:

1. The Light Can Attract Bad Bugs:
During our journey of healing and self-discovery, it’s important to remain aware that the light we emit can also attract negative influences. Guard your boundaries, be mindful of toxic relationships, and trust your instincts. Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you, and be vigilant in recognizing and addressing any early signs of abuse or manipulation.
2. Acceptance:
The first step towards healing from trauma is accepting that it happened and acknowledging the impact it has had on your life. This can be a difficult and painful process, but it is crucial for moving forward. Acceptance involves acknowledging the reality of what has happened without judgment or denial. It is about embracing the truth of our experiences, even if they are painful and difficult to confront. By accepting the past, we free ourselves from the burden of resistance and open the door to healing. One of the reasons acceptance is so crucial is that it validates our emotions and experiences. Trauma can leave us feeling invalidated, questioning our own perceptions and emotions. Acceptance allows us to honor and trust ourselves, recognizing that our pain is real and valid. It is an act of self-compassion, offering ourselves the understanding and validation we may have longed for. It frees up our energy and mental space to engage in healing practices and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Acceptance grants us permission to prioritize our well-being and invest in our healing journey.

By accepting the past, we also gain clarity and perspective. It allows us to see our experiences from a new vantage point, untangling the web of emotions and reactions. This clarity enables us to make sense of our journey and understand how it has shaped us. We can identify patterns, triggers, and areas of growth, laying the groundwork for personal transformation.

Trauma can take many forms, including physical, emotional, or psychological abuse, neglect, or significant life events such as accidents, loss of loved ones, or natural disasters. It is important to understand that trauma affects each individual differently, and the healing process is unique for everyone.

Acceptance involves recognizing the emotions associated with trauma, allowing yourself to feel them without judgment. It is not about condoning or minimizing the pain, but rather acknowledging its existence and the impact it has had on your life.

3. Reflections:
Self-reflection is an essential practice for healing from trauma. Take the time to explore your emotions, thoughts, and reactions. Journaling or engaging in therapy can help you gain deeper insights into your experiences and facilitate healing. Allow yourself to process your past and understand how it has shaped you while keeping in mind that the past does not define your future.

Self-reflection involves looking inward with honesty and curiosity. It requires creating a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your inner landscape. Through journaling, you can express your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, gaining clarity and perspective. Therapy or counseling provides a supportive environment where a trained professional can guide you through the process of self-reflection and help you develop coping strategies and tools for healing. 4. Don’t Beat Yourself Up if It’s Hard to Forgive:
Forgiving those who have caused us pain can be one of the most challenging aspects of healing. It’s important to remember that forgiveness is a personal journey and that it may take time. It’s okay to feel anger, resentment, or even mixed emotions toward the people or events that hurt us. Be patient and gentle with yourself as you navigate the complexities of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is not about excusing or forgetting what has happened. Instead, it is a process of releasing the emotional burden and reclaiming your power. It is a choice to let go of the negative emotions that hold you back from healing and moving forward.

If forgiveness feels overwhelming or impossible, it may be helpful to seek support from a therapist, counselor, or support group. They can provide guidance and tools to help you navigate the process of forgiveness in a way that feels authentic to you.

5. Asking for Help:
Healing from trauma should never be a solitary endeavor. Reach out to trusted friends, family, or professionals for support. Seeking therapy or counseling can provide a safe space to explore your emotions and work through the pain. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Asking for help can be challenging, especially if you have experienced trauma that has made you feel isolated or unworthy. However, reaching out is a crucial step toward healing. Trusted individuals in your life can offer support, validation, and a listening ear. Therapists or counselors are trained professionals who can provide specialized guidance and create a therapeutic alliance tailored to your needs.

6. Finding a Spiritual Practice:
Finding a spiritual practice that resonates with you can be a powerful tool for healing from trauma. Spirituality can provide a sense of connection, purpose, and inner peace. Explore different practices such as meditation, mindfulness, yoga, or nature walks. Find what aligns with your beliefs and values and incorporate it into your daily life.

As you embark on the path of healing, you may attract individuals who seek to take advantage of your vulnerabilities. It is crucial to establish and maintain healthy boundaries in relationships. Pay attention to any signs of manipulation, control, or abuse, no matter how subtle they may be. Trust your intuition and prioritize your well-being. Seek support from trusted individuals or professionals if you suspect or experience any form of mistreatment.

7. Bonus: Prayer for Healing:
For many, prayer serves as a powerful tool in the healing process. Whether you have a religious affiliation or not, prayer can be a source of solace, comfort, and hope. Take time to connect with your spirituality or engage in practices that bring you inner peace and healing.

Prayer can take various forms, depending on your beliefs and personal preferences. It can be a conversation with a higher power, a moment of reflection and meditation, or reciting sacred texts or affirmations. It provides a space to express your pain, fears, and hopes, and to seek guidance and strength on your healing journey.

Different religious or spiritual traditions offer a wealth of wisdom and guidance for healing. The stories, teachings, and passages can provide comfort, validation, and a sense of connection. Reflecting on healing scriptures can help shift your perspective, instill hope, and inspire resilience.

Healing from trauma is a challenging and deeply personal process. It requires courage, self-compassion, and the willingness to confront our past. By accepting what has happened, practicing forgiveness, seeking support, and nurturing ourselves, we can make progress on a more beautiful journey of healing and growth. It is part of life’s pain and suffering but it is up to us to remember the power we hold to navigate life in a more balanced matter. Remember, scars may remain, but they serve as a testament to our resilience and strength as we leave the darkness behind and embrace a brighter future. Finally, CONGRATULATIONS!! for making it through those struggles that only you know you had the courage to get through them, so brave! I am so proud of you, you made it!
